Showerthought: everyone on the big forums says you need a complex spreadsheet to track your spending, but I just used a single envelope for my 'fun money' for 3 months and it worked better.
I put $200 cash in an envelope labeled 'fun' at the start of each month, and when it was gone, I was done spending, which forced me to actually see the money leave my hands and cut my impulse buys by half compared to when I just swiped a card.

That "see the money leave" part is key.

Actually makes you think about how cash used to force a physical limit. You can't spend a hundred dollar bill twice. Digital money feels endless because you never see the stack get smaller. That missing friction is probably why so many people get into trouble with apps now. It's just numbers changing on a screen, not real money leaving your hand.
