She said, 'You're on there to learn, not to win arguments,' and it made me close three finance forum tabs right away. How do you guys keep from getting sucked into pointless debates online?

Wait, hold on... those pointless debates are the whole point sometimes. You learn way more by having your ideas tested hard. If you just close the tab, you never really find out if you're wrong.
