My forum login got locked right before a big market move

I was at my kitchen table last Tuesday, trying to log into the InvestorPlace forum to check a thread about earnings reports. I'd just made coffee and had about 15 minutes before my next meeting. I typed my password wrong three times because I was rushing, and the site locked me out completely. I had to go through the whole 'forgot password' reset, which took forever because the email link was slow. By the time I got back in, the stock I was watching had already jumped 3%. I felt like an idiot. I keep my main trading password in a notebook now, not just in my head. Has anyone else had a forum tech issue cost them a chance to jump on news?

Honestly that is the worst feeling. Tbh my brokerage app did a full system update right at market open last month and I was stuck staring at a loading screen for twenty minutes. Missed a perfect entry point on a swing trade I had been planning all week. Ngl I almost threw my phone. Now I check for app updates the night before, every single time. Tech issues are the hidden cost of trading online for sure.

My old laptop took 8 minutes to boot once during a pre-market panic. @susanh46 is right, these tech fails are brutal. I keep a backup tablet charged now just for this stuff.

Ugh, that sucks so much, I feel you completely. @tylerw72's backup tablet idea is actually smart because these lockouts always happen at the worst possible moment, don't they? Nothing like watching a move happen while you're stuck waiting on a password reset email to load.
