That one customer who insisted his fence line was 'perfectly straight' by eye
I was setting posts for a backyard job in Springfield last month, and the homeowner kept telling me to ignore my string line because he could 'see' it was off. He literally stood behind me going 'nope, move it left an inch... wait, my bad, right two inches' for like twenty minutes. How do you even start to explain why that's a terrible idea without sounding like a jerk?

Wait, he actually stood there behind you directing? That's insane. @charlie_fisher45 you gotta see this, that's exactly what I was telling you about with my neighbor and his "perfect eye.

I used to trust my eye too until a whole section of fence looked totally wrong.

Yeah that'll do it lol. I was the same way, always eyeballing stuff and thinking it was close enough. Then I tried to hang some shelves without a level and let's just say my books had a very steep learning curve. Now I measure like three times before I even pick up a drill.
