Had a gate hinge fail on a job in Phoenix because I didn't check the concrete anchor depth.

The client's new aluminum gate sagged an inch overnight. I had to pull the whole post, drill deeper, and set new anchors with epoxy. Anyone have a better anchor brand for high wind areas?

My buddy in Tucson had a gate post rip right out during a monsoon last summer. He used those cheap wedge anchors that came with the kit. The concrete cracked around them because the embedment was way too shallow. He ended up going with Hilti HIT-RE 500 epoxy and their threaded rod. Said the inspector made him drill down a full eight inches for the new ones. Has that kind of system held up for you in Phoenix winds?

Ugh, that's the worst. I've had to fix that exact mess before. Hilti epoxy is the only thing that's ever held for me out here, no question.

Yeah, that eight inch depth is no joke. I mean, maybe it's overkill in some places, but not here. I've seen too many posts just tilt over after a few good dust storms because the hole was barely six inches deep. The epoxy is key, but if the rod isn't deep enough, it's all just a waste of time and money.
