Warning: I thought the 'drafting with a Sharpie' trick was just for kids

A teacher at the community college in Spokane insisted we try it for initial sketches, and I was sure it would look messy. After forcing myself to use it for a week, I found it stops you from over-editing too early and lets you focus on the silhouette first. Has anyone else found a weird tool that actually improved their design process?

Oh please, it's just a marker.

Gotta disagree with you @parker_bell... there's a difference between the feel of a marker versus a pencil that actually changes how you draw. The lack of undo just forces you to think before you put down a line, which is a real skill builder.

@parker_bell it's not just a marker tho. That Spokane teacher was onto something. I tried it for a month and my line work got way less stiff. Forced me to commit to shapes instead of fussing with a pencil for hours. Sometimes the weird limit is what makes you better.
