Question about investing in a proper dress form
I finally spent about $300 on an adjustable dress form after years of pinning on myself. The fit of my mock-ups improved instantly, saving me so much fabric and time from re-draping. Has anyone found a good budget alternative that still works well?

That's awesome the dress form is working for you! For a budget option, the DIY route with duct tape over an old t-shirt is surprisingly solid. You need a friend to help wrap you, but it captures your exact shape. Stuffing it firmly with old fabric or plastic bags makes it hold up. It's not as adjustable for different designs, but for a basic custom form it's a total game changer on a tight budget.

Honestly @wells.morgan, duct tape directly on a t-shirt sounds like a skin nightmare waiting to happen. I tried something like that years ago and got all kinds of sticky residue and little hairs stuck in it. Ngl, the idea of being wrapped up that tight gives me major claustrophobia vibes too.
