Just found out the average wedding dress uses over 7 yards of fabric

I was sketching a simple gown idea and thought I'd check fabric estimates online. A blog from a designer in Seattle said most dresses need 7 to 10 yards, which is WAY more than I guessed. My last design only used about 3 yards total. It totally changes how I budget for materials now. Does anyone have a good source for buying larger fabric rolls without breaking the bank?

Yeah, I always figured less fabric meant a simpler dress too. Seeing those numbers made me realize how much extra goes into lining and structure, even for clean designs. It totally flipped how I plan my projects now. Where do you usually look for bulk fabric deals?

That's for a full traditional gown, your simpler design probably needs less lol.

Actually, the simpler design needs more fabric than you'd think...
