I finally sketched my whole new line from my apartment, and my team is split on the method.
Last season, I decided to do all my initial fashion drawings at home instead of the studio. I found I could think clearer without the constant buzz and interruptions from others. My lead designer argues that being in the same room lets us swap swatches and build on each other's ideas instantly. A couple coworkers miss the quick feedback and say the shared space fuels creativity. On the flip side, some team members say they get more done with flexible schedules and quiet time. I personally finished a full set of designs I love, all from my living room. But now I'm second-guessing if working alone makes our final products feel disconnected. What's your take? Is in-person teamwork better for fashion design, or does remote work offer enough?

Honestly, is every single step of the process a group activity? You made a full line you love from your couch, that's a win. The swatch argument feels a bit old school, you can still share pictures or meet just for that part. People act like you can't bounce ideas unless you're in the same room, but a good video call does the same thing. Maybe the real question is if the clothes are good, not how you got there.

Maybe tell your boss thomash39's hybrid plan before they're stuck in the past forever.

Read a case study about a design firm that switched to hybrid. They had everyone do deep work alone for a few days, then held intense in person sessions just for swapping samples and edits. Their final collection was more focused, not less. Your lead might be clinging to how it's always been done. You made a full line you love, that's proof the method works for you. Maybe the fix is planned meet ups for the hands on stuff, instead of all or nothing.
