A tailor in Savannah told me to try using a walking foot on jersey knit and it actually works

I always thought a walking foot was just for quilting or thick layers, something my grandma used. When I was making a simple t-shirt dress last month, the fabric kept stretching and the seams looked wavy. The shop owner, an older guy named Frank, saw me struggling and said, 'Kid, put a walking foot on that machine. It'll feed the layers even.' I was sure it was just old-school advice that wouldn't help much. I dug my walking foot out of a box and gave it a shot. The difference was immediate. The top and bottom layers of the knit fed through together perfectly, and the seam lay flat. No more puckering. I've used it on three knit projects since. Has anyone else found a specific tool that fixed a problem you thought was just part of the fabric's nature?

Doubt it's a magic fix for every fabric though.

Honestly, a walking foot saved me with slippery satin too!
