Wasted $80 on a pair of 'pro' nippers that couldn't handle a single draft hoof

Bought them from a catalog last fall, first time I used them on a big Belgian cross the edge chipped on the third clip, has anyone else had better luck with a specific brand for heavy horses?

Pro" nippers that can't handle one draft hoof? Sounds like you got a pair of "pro" at marketing and "amateur" at making tools. I've had the same thing happen with a few "heavy duty" brands that folded like paper on a Percheron. For the big boys, you really gotta go with something that's been tested by a farrier who works with drafts, not just some catalog description. What brand was it so I know to steer clear?

Dylan_green58, you hit the nail on the head. I heard a talk from an older farrier who works mostly on Belgians and he said the same thing about companies slapping "pro" on a tool that barely handles a light quarter horse. He mentioned a brand called Ferrier Forge that was great for years until they changed their steel source. That might be one to watch out for if you're looking at "heavy duty" lines.
