Tried pulling a shoe with my new nippers instead of clinch cutters and the nail broke off in the hoof wall

Ended up having to dig it out with a hoof pick and a pair of pliers, took 20 extra minutes - do you guys always use clinch cutters first or has anyone else had the nail just snap like that with nippers?

Switched to clinch cutters after that happened once and never looked back.

Clinching is a total game changer once you get the hang of it. Had a few sketchy moments with regular pliers that made me switch over pretty quick. Now I won't touch a wire without them (and my fingers thank me for it).
