Old rancher watched me trim his mare and said my hoof stand angle was all wrong

Had me move it from 15 to 25 degrees and suddenly my rasp strokes felt half the effort, has anyone else tweaked their stand angle and noticed a big difference?

Well, I guess the old saying 'measure twice, rasp once' isn't a thing, huh?" Pretty funny that a 10 degree shift is basically a whole different workout. Last year a trimmer told me my stand was at the wrong height and I just laughed, then tried it and felt like an idiot for ignoring them for so long. Your mileage may vary of course, but sometimes those cranky old guys have been swinging a rasp since before we were born.

That hits home. I had a guy on my crew who's been laying shingles since the 80s tell me I was holding my nail gun at a dumb angle last summer. I brushed him off for like three weeks because I thought I knew better. Finally tried it his way out of pure annoyance and my wrist stopped hurting by the end of the day. Felt real dumb but at least my shoulder wasn't screaming at me anymore. Those old timers earn their crankiness with all that hard earned knowledge.
