Just realized how much a good forge setup changes your day

Honestly, last week I was working on a set of custom shoes for a draft horse in Springfield and my old forge just gave out halfway through. Tbh, I had to finish the job with a borrowed portable propane forge and it cut my work time in half. Has anyone else made the switch from coal to gas and found it that much better?

Switched to a gas forge last year and it's a total game changer. The heat control alone saves so much time, and no more dealing with coal dust everywhere. Honestly can't imagine going back to coal now.

Saw a video where a guy was comparing heat zones in his new gas forge. He could hold a piece in the blue flame for a quick heat and shift it to a cooler spot to stop it burning. The clean up looked way easier too, just brushing out scale instead of shoveling ash. Makes me wonder if the switch is worth it for smaller projects.
