Back in my hometown of Redmond, the old feed store's farrier corner is just a coffee bar now.
Tbh, it hit me that the spot where I first saw a hoof being trimmed is gone, and I wonder if new folks even have a place like that to start. Anyone else notice their local horse supply spots fading away?

Figures. Now you can get a pumpkin spice where they used to fix a horse.

Doesn't it feel like every town has at least one spot like that now? lol. It's not just the farrier shops either, it's the old hardware stores and the mom-and-pop diners that had real character getting swapped for the same five chains. I've been watching it happen in my own neighborhood for the last ten years, and it's like a slow, quiet eraser going over everything that made the place feel lived-in. Don't get me wrong, I like a good latte as much as the next guy, but I miss the weird smells and the worn-down floors that told you a story.

Wait, they turned the farrier corner into a coffee bar? That's wild. I can't picture getting a latte where they used to have the hoof stand and the smell of hot iron. The old shop near me kept its wooden floor stained with neatsfoot oil for decades, but now it's a smoothie place. It just feels like those gritty, useful spots are getting paved over for something way less interesting.
