Just had a client mention she'd been using a DIY coffee scrub for years. It made me think about how we talk people out of home routines.

She was in for a facial and casually said she'd been mixing used coffee grounds with coconut oil every Sunday. Her skin was actually in decent shape, but it got me wondering if I'm too quick to dismiss those habits. Maybe there's a way to work with them instead of against them. How do you handle clients with long-standing DIY practices?

Funny how that happens. It's like telling someone their grandma's chicken soup recipe is wrong because it doesn't follow a professional technique. Sometimes the home method just works for them. Maybe the answer is asking why they like it first, instead of launching into the science of why coffee grounds are too abrasive. Could be more about the ritual than the scrub.

Yeah but @the_james, coffee grounds can actually clog pipes pretty bad.
