Just had a client in Tampa with a reaction that made me switch my entire consultation script.

I used to just ask about allergies, but after her skin flared up from a medication she didn't mention, I now spend 5 minutes asking about every prescription, supplement, and OTC pill from the last 6 months before I even touch a product.

Man, that is SO smart to change your whole script like that. It's wild how people forget to mention stuff they take every single day. That extra five minutes must feel like a lifesaver now, totally worth it to avoid a scary reaction. I get why you'd never go back to the old way. Good on you for learning from a tough situation and making your process way safer.

Totally agree, that extra time is a small price to pay for safety.

Gotta be honest @troyjackson, I think this is overkill. Most people know if they're allergic to something, and asking about the last 6 months of pills is just wasting time they could spend picking a color. The client forgot a med, that's on them not on you. You can't protect people from their own forgetfulness. Plus, a lot of those med interactions are rare with basic topical stuff. You're turning a 10 minute chat into a 15 minute interrogation and it probably scares people off more than it helps. Maybe just ask the standard allergy question and leave it at that, then let people sign a waiver if they want to be reckless.
