Hit 500 facials in my third year and realized I still hate the same product line I started with

I finally crossed 500 facials last Thursday. Thought I would feel like some kind of expert by now. But I still dread using Dermalogica. It works fine for most people, I just hate the smell and the way it sits on my hands. Everyone in my program swore by it. I feel like an outlier. Does anyone else secretly hate a brand that's basically the industry standard?

Wait do you actually have to use Dermalogica on clients or is it just a personal choice thing? I feel like the smell thing is huge for some people and it never gets talked about enough. Like I get that it's a solid brand but if the texture or scent bothers you that much it's gonna show in your work. I bet there's a bunch of estheticians who secretly hate something popular but just deal with it cause it's what they were taught.

Yo, I FEEL this so hard. I've been doing facials for over 10 years now and I HATE a specific brand's cleanser that everyone in my salon loves. The thing is, your hands are your main tool and if a product feels gross or smells bad, it throws off your whole flow. I actually found that swapping out just the cleanser for something I liked made a HUGE difference in my work. You don't have to switch whole lines, just pick the one or two products that bother you most and replace them with something that works for your hands and nose. It took me forever to realize I could just use a different brand for that step and nobody even noticed. Seriously, save your sanity and customize your tray.
