Had a client tell me my lash extensions looked 'clumpy' and I was so offended at first

She came in for a fill last month and said the fans looked uneven and clumpy on her left eye. I was mad for like 10 minutes then looked in my magnifying mirror and yeah she was right lol. So I switched from the 0.15 thickness I was using to 0.10 and started separating each set way more carefully. Has anyone else gotten harsh feedback that actually made them better?

Oh man, I totally disagree though. I think taking feedback too seriously actually messes with your artistic instincts. If you're constantly second-guessing yourself over one client who's being nitpicky, you lose that natural flow that makes your work unique in the first place.

Same thing happens at restaurants. One person complains the burger is too salty and suddenly the cook is second-guessing the recipe they've been using for 20 years.

But isn't that the whole point of running a business though? You gotta listen to what people are saying because theyre the ones paying you. If ten people say the burger is too salty you kind of have to at least taste it yourself and check. I don't think you lose your artistic instincts by being open to feedback, you just get better at figuring out when its a real problem versus a one-off quirk. Wright.cole says it messes with your flow but I've found that ignoring feedback altogether is how you end up with an empty dining room.
