That hand-cranked cash register from the 1920s was a total nightmare at my estate sale last Sunday
Picked it up at an auction for $40 thinking it'd be a cool conversation piece for checkouts. Big mistake. First customer buys a $15 vase and I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out the crank mechanism while people lined up. The drawer kept jamming too. Took a loss and sold it to a collector for $20 just to get it out of my house. Has anyone else tried using vintage crap as functional furniture or tools at a sale? How do you decide what's worth keeping practical?
