Snagged a vintage table lamp for $8 and then dropped it on the driveway

I was at a sale in Kent last Saturday and found this cool 70s lamp with the original shade, so I scooped it up for eight bucks. On the way to the car, I fumbled the box and the base cracked right off the metal stem. Has anyone had luck fixing a ceramic lamp base with epoxy, or is it toast?

My buddy Joe dropped a 50s ashtray on his driveway last year and JB Weld held it together like nothing happened. Have you tried that stuff before?

Did you rough up the broken edges with sandpaper before you slapped the JB Weld on there?
