Had an estate sale lady laugh at me for missing the hidden price tags
I was at a sale in Bellevue last Saturday and picked up a cool midcentury vase for $12. Felt good about it until the lady running the sale pointed to a tiny sticker on the bottom that said $4. Turns out they always put the real price on the bottom or inside stuff, and the big sticker is just for show. She told me most people don't flip things over and that's how they get away with marking things up. I've been going to these sales for like 2 years and never noticed that pattern. Now I check every single underside and inside before I even look at the top tag. Has anyone else had a sale runner give them a secret tip like that?

Hold up, you're framing this like she did you a favor but really she just outed their whole scam. Estate sale people know exactly what they're doing with those hidden tags, it's not a secret tip it's a hustle. Next time you'll spot a lamp marked $30 on top with a $2 sticker underneath and think "wow what a deal" but really you're just playing their game now. The real move is to look at the bottom price, know they're still marking that up from wholesale, and offer half of whatever that says. Two years going to these things and you just now flipped something over?

Wait, @the_anthony, you actually flipped stuff for two years and never looked at the bottom?
