Found a hidden gem at an estate sale in Tacoma last weekend
I usually hit up estate sales for tools and old furniture, but last Saturday in Tacoma I stumbled into this house that looked like a garage sale gone wild. Mostly junk, right? But then I spotted a box shoved under a table with old fishing lures and some rusty reels. The seller wanted $5 for the whole box, so I grabbed it on a whim. Later at home I found a 1950s Heddon Pal lure inside that was in near mint condition. I looked it up online and saw it going for around $60 on eBay. Small win, but it got me thinking about how easy it is to pass over stuff that looks grimy but has real value. Anyone else ever find something unexpected that paid off?

You ever find something weird that you can't even sell but keep anyway? I bought a box of old comic books for ten bucks once and the only thing in there was a doodle someone drew of a cat eating a sandwich. Still got it in my desk drawer.

Nah I mean $60 is cool and all but after you factor in the gas and time you spent digging through junk it's not exactly retirement money. People get excited over the smallest stuff these days.
