Why does almost everyone I see wiring controller cabinets use way too much slack on their door harnesses

I just spent 45 minutes tucking in 3 extra feet of cable on an Otis Gen2 install because the last guy left loops like he was making a damn extension cord, and it takes no extra time to cut it clean.

Guess they figured the extra slack would fix itself one day...

Oh for crying out loud, right? It's like they thought if they just tied a big enough knot in the rope, the universe would sort out the rest of the mess. I mean, seriously, how long do you think that kind of thinking actually lasts in the real world? It's not like the extra slack is going to wake up one morning with a sudden sense of responsibility. More like they're just passing the problem down the line and hoping nobody notices until it's someone else's headache. Pretty typical for a group that can't even plan lunch without someone bringing the wrong chips.
