Shoutout to the guy in the Chicago high rise who thought elevators ran on wishes

I was doing a call at the Willis Tower last year and a guy in a suit asked me if the elevator would go faster if we all 'thought really hard about our floors'. He was dead serious, like he thought it was some kind of group mind power thing. I told him it runs on a 480 volt motor, not good vibes. Has anyone else had a passenger with a truly wild idea about how these things work?

Bet he also thinks group chanting helps the microwave finish faster.

Oh man, I've had a guy ask me if pressing the button harder made it come faster. Like the elevator senses your urgency through button pressure. I told him flat out, "Sir, the button is a switch. It's either pressed or it's not. No amount of thumb force changes the motor." Best approach is just explain the basics really simply. Most people calm down once you tell them it's just a regular motor and a computer, no magic involved.
