Serious question, I've been greasing the guide rails with the wrong stuff for years.

A guy from the Otis crew in Chicago saw my tube of general purpose lithium and told me their spec calls for a specific high-load moly grease. Anyone else run into this?

Yeah, @felix_thomas73 is right. That wrong grease will cost you.

Moly grease is good for high pressure, but it's not always the right pick. Some bearings need a lithium complex grease instead. The spec sheet tells you exactly what to use, and it's worth checking. Getting it wrong can wreck parts way faster than you'd think.

Absolutely, that spec is no joke. I burned up a set of rollers using the wrong grease and learned the hard way. The moly stuff handles the pressure way better.
