Just realized how a simple trick saved me on a call for a stuck car in a Chicago high rise.

I was working on a 20 story building downtown last Tuesday. The car was stuck between floors 8 and 9, and the passengers were getting pretty loud. The controller was throwing a code for a door lock fault, but all the locks checked out fine. I remembered an old mechanic telling me to check the sill of the pit door for a small piece of debris. Sure enough, a broken piece of a plastic bottle cap was jammed in there, tricking the system. Cleared it out and had the car moving in under ten minutes. Has anyone else found weird stuff in the pit door sill causing phantom faults?
