Just finished my 100th annual inspection on a set of 90s-era hydraulic elevators in a medical building.
I always thought that kind of routine work was just a box to check, but seeing that number made me realize how many potential issues I've caught early over the years. Anyone else find a certain job count makes you value the boring stuff more?

Honestly, that number hits home. I grade about a thousand essays a year, and it's easy to just see a stack of papers. But then you find the one kid who finally got it, and you remember all that marking is how you spotted they needed help in the first place. Makes the grind feel less pointless, you know? What was the weirdest thing you ever found during one of those checks?

Oh man, the weirdest thing? I once found a kid's full grocery list for his mom tucked in the middle of an essay on the causes of World War I. Like, "milk, eggs, treaty of versailles, bread, laundry soap." It was so pure. I just wrote "good list" next to it and gave it back. Makes you remember they're just people, not just homework machines, lol.
