Changed my tune on that fancy digital tension gauge
I used to think a good old-fashioned spring scale was all you needed for checking rope tension. Then I got stuck on a tough job in a high-rise downtown where the tolerances were super tight. The foreman had one of those digital gauges and let me borrow it. I was ready to hate it, but man, it made the job so much faster and more accurate. I ended up dropping about $450 on my own unit a few months back. It paid for itself on the first big contract where we had to document every reading for the inspector. The digital readout and memory function saved me hours of writing stuff down and double-checking. Has anyone else made the switch, or do you still swear by the old tools?

Holy crap, $450 for a tension gauge? That's a whole mortgage payment on a tool! Did it come with a gold-plated case or something? I mean, I get wanting accuracy but that's serious cash for something that just sits in your truck most days.

Forget the fancy numbers sometimes. Honestly, that digital readout can make you chase a perfect reading instead of trusting your hands and the feel of the rigging. Tbh, the old spring scale keeps you more connected to the actual work.
