Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop using compressed air on motherboards

Ngl, I used to blast dust off boards with canned air like it was nothing. A customer brought in a dead laptop last month, and I found corrosion under a chip that looked exactly like moisture damage from air spray. Tried telling myself it wasn't that, but then I tested a spare board I cleaned the same way and got weird shorts. Switched to a soft brush and 99% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, and after 6 boards not a single issue. Has anyone else had a board die from compressed air or am I just unlucky?

Haven't you guys noticed how some cans have a warning about holding them upright? I always thought that was just about the freeze spray, not regular air. But yeah, the moisture thing is way more common than people admit. I've seen it leave a weird residue on contacts too, almost like a white film. Makes me wonder if the propellant itself is the problem, not just condensation.
