Raising my workbench stopped my daily back pain
I had back pain every day after hunching over my repair station. A friend suggested raising my workbench a few inches. I tried it and now my posture is much more straight. The pain is mostly gone and I can concentrate easier on my repairs. Small changes can have a big impact.

Ever put off a simple fix until your body forces you to deal with it? I spent years hunched over a table that was way too low, convinced I was just getting old. My big solution was stacking old cookbooks under my monitor, which looked so dumb I almost preferred the back pain. Finally caving and buying a $20 stand felt like admitting defeat, but now I can actually sit up straight. What's your record for ignoring a problem before fixing it?

Yeah, I had the same thing with my home desk. Putting it on bed risers made a huge difference (way cheaper than a new chair, too). It's wild how much your setup matters.

Honestly the_sarah is right, we all become DIY furniture hackers before we just buy the right thing. My old setup was a desk on textbooks and a broken office chair, felt like I was building Frankenstein's monster just to get comfy. It's amazing what we'll put up with for years before trying a cheap fix like risers. You really don't notice how bad it is until your back hurts and you're scowling at your monitor.
