Had a customer swear their HDMI cable was bad. Tested it 3 times. It was their GPU port.
Guy insisted I swap out a $30 cable for a new one. I finally plugged his laptop into my test monitor and boom, no signal. He argued with me for 10 minutes before he saw the bent pins. Has anyone else had customers fight you on obvious hardware failures?

I started carrying a cheap HDMI tester in my truck after that happened to me.

Oh come ON. You really need a whole tester for that? I've plugged HDMI cables into god knows how many TVs and projectors over the years and never once had one not work right out of the box. Seems like overkill unless you're running cables through walls or something. I just carry an extra cable in my bag and if it's dead I swap it out.

@fiona_scott44 honestly just sounds like you're throwing money at a non-issue lol. I've been plugging HDMI cables into random stuff for years and maybe had one bad one ever, so unless you're some kind of professional A/V installer it's probably overkill. Most of these "dead" cables are just people not pushing them in all the way or forgetting to switch inputs.
