Had a convo with a customer that made me rethink my soldering approach

Guy brings in a 20 year old receiver, says he's tried fixing it himself. I'm expecting a janky mess inside, but his joints were clean. He told me he switched to a cheaper iron and takes way longer on each joint. I've been using the same hot station for years and rushing through stuff. Now I'm thinking about slowing down, maybe grabbing a backup iron for the tricky boards. Anyone else had a customer teach them a thing or two?

Old guys know their stuff. A quiet board is better than a blown trace any day.

Fair point about being careful, but a hot station that's dialed in right shouldn't need you to go that slow on every joint. Sometimes old school methods just mean stubbornness, not skill.
