Went to pull wire in a new build and found someone buried a junction box behind drywall

Call the inspector and see what they say... sometimes they'll let it slide if the junction box is accessible enough and you can prove it was there before the drywall went up. I've seen way worse in old houses where people just bury stuff with no box at all and nobody ever has a problem with it for decades. A properly made junction with good wire nuts and electrical tape should be fine as long as the drywall is not glued right over the box lid. Besides, if the house was wired by the same crew that did the rest of the job, chances are they knew what they were doing and planned for it.

Yeah totally, I've had inspectors wave worse stuff through too.
