Showerthought: I thought I could save time by not labeling a temporary feed and it bit me

Honestly, I was doing a kitchen rewire in a 1950s house here in Spokane last Tuesday. I had a temporary feed set up for the new circuits and figured I'd remember which breaker it was on. Ngl, I came back after lunch and spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why my new GFCI wouldn't reset before I realized I'd turned off the wrong breaker. I learned to always slap a piece of tape on a temp feed the second I make it, no matter how short I think it'll be. Has anyone else had a simple oversight like that waste a chunk of your afternoon?

Ever think about how our brains just dump temporary info the second we walk away? It's like the mental sticky note dissolves. That's why the tape isn't just a label, it's a handshake with your future, dumber self who's already thinking about the next task.

My garage door opener has three labels for this exact reason.

That's exactly it. It's like our brains have this built-in buffer that flushes the second we cross a doorway. I've started doing the same thing with post-its for stuff I need to grab from the car, because if I don't write it down the second I think of it, it's gone the minute I walk inside.
