Serious question, does every new neighbor instantly ask you to check their breaker box?
It's getting to the point where I dread mentioning my job at block parties.

That "dread mentioning my job" part is so real. Is it like a week one thing, or do they wait a few months and then hit you with the request when they see you outside?

Oh man, this hits home! @jordan653 is right about the timing thing, but it's bigger than that. People see a skill and instantly think 'free help.' I see it all the time with my friends in trades. Once you're known as the handy person, the requests never stop. It's like your job stops being what you do and starts being who you are to them. Really makes you want to keep your work life separate.
