Chat with a fire inspector made me double-check my attic work
He told me he sees a lot of junction boxes buried under insulation, which is a fire waiting to happen. I went back to a job I did last month and found one I'd missed. How do you guys make sure you never leave a hidden box?

Back in 2019 I got a call from a client with a melted outlet. I used to think a buried box was just sloppy work, not a real danger. Finding that scorched plastic changed my whole view. Now my final walk-through is just for checking every single box is accessible. I even take a quick photo of each cleared area before the insulation goes in. It adds five minutes to the job but saves a lot of worry later.

Lean into what jesseb20 said about the photo habit, because that's the real trick right there. I started doing something similar after a close call with a buried box under blown-in cellulose, and now I snap a picture of every single junction box right before it gets covered. It forces me to physically stop and check each one before I move on, and having the timestamped photos on my phone is great if the homeowner ever asks questions later. Makes the whole process feel a lot more solid, you know?
