A retired guy in Toledo showed me his trick for fishing wire through old plaster walls

I was rewiring a 1920s house there, and the plaster was crumbling every time I tried to drill. The homeowner, a guy named Frank who used to be a union electrician, saw me struggling. He told me to use a piece of old metal coat hanger with a small hook bent at the end, and to push it slow and steady, not fast. It worked way better than my fiberglass rods for those tight, crumbly spots. Anyone have other old-school methods for plaster lathe?

Yeah, that's a rough one. I had a fiberglass board snap on me last year on a smaller wave than it should have. The sound alone was brutal, like a gunshot. Makes you really question what you're trusting out there. Now I just save up for longer and go with epoxy every time.
