Tried using a garden hose to test my weeping tile and got a surprise.
I ran the hose at full blast into the sump pit to see if the weeping tile could handle a heavy rain, and it backed up into the basement floor drain in about 20 seconds flat. Guess that old clay tile around the foundation is more cracked than I thought - anyone had luck with retrofitting a new system in an older Edmonton house?

Oh man, that's rough! Sounds like you found a problem faster than you expected. I bet that water came up through the floor drain like a geyser at a theme park. For retrofitting old clay tile in an Edmonton house, you're probably looking at a full perimeter drain replacement with a new liner and sump pump setup. It's not cheap but way better than dealing with a basement lake after a spring thaw.

Basement lake after a spring thaw" is exactly what I'm trying to avoid lol. Sounds like I need to bite the bullet and get a full perimeter drain system put in. Guess that's my winter project now haha.
