Rant: My basement floor drain backed up during the big thaw last week
It was Tuesday morning and I heard a weird gurgle from the utility room. By noon, there was a small puddle of gray water around the floor drain. I called a plumber from St. Albert who came out and ran a camera, finding about 15 feet of roots in the old clay line out to the alley. The whole fix, including the snaking and camera check, came to $650. Has anyone else in the Bonnie Doon area had this happen with the spring melt?

Did you get a quote for a liner or full pipe replacement? We had the same root issue in our old line. The plumber suggested a liner as a cheaper fix than digging, and it's held up for three years now.

Hold on @olivere30, a liner's not always cheaper than a dig when you factor in the prep work.
