Finally patched my own leaking copper pipe without calling my buddy for backup

Had a pin hole leak show up in my basement ceiling last Tuesday night. Water was dripping right onto my workbench, not a ton but enough to annoy me. I cut out the bad section and sweat in a new coupling around 11pm. Took three tries cause my torch was acting up and I hate soldering overhead. Total cost was like $12 in parts versus paying someone $300 easy. Anyone else ever fix something small yourself and realize you should have just done it sooner?

...and that feeling of fixing it yourself is sweeter than any beer. Nothing beats proving to yourself you can handle it. The torch problems though, I feel that. Oxy acetylene is a pain but propane torches take forever. I almost melted a joist once trying to get a fitting hot enough. Now I keep a spare torch head in the toolbox just in case. Plus once you learn to sweat copper you save so much money over the years. Next time you got a valve or a tee to install you won't even blink.

Did you have that moment where you realize you just saved a ton of cash and feel like a genius?
