Watched someone in a horror movie check a closet and now I laugh every time I do it myself

I was at my sister's house last weekend helping her move furniture around and she asked me to check if her kid's closet was empty before we shoved a dresser against it. I opened the door slowly like an idiot and she just started cracking up. We both realized I looked exactly like every dumb character in a horror flick who knows the killer is inside but still peaks in with a shaky flashlight. Now every time I open a closet or a shower curtain at home I think about how those people would just die instantly in real life. Like who in their right mind would creep into a dark basement after hearing a weird noise? I'd just call the cops from my car with the doors locked. Has anyone else caught themselves mimicking TV logic in totally normal situations?

Who in their right mind would creep into a dark basement after hearing a weird noise?" Actually most people would do exactly that in real life, it's just instinct to check on stuff like that before calling anyone.
