Trying to use Siri with a heavy accent is basically useless

I was driving home from work last week and asked Siri to call my wife, but she kept hearing 'call my life' instead. I said it maybe 5 times before I just gave up and pulled over to dial manually. It's wild how Apple's voice recognition can't handle anything outside that perfect American accent. Has anyone else with a different accent just stopped using voice assistants altogether?

Man that's frustrating! I'm from the UK and had the same problem. What finally worked for me was going into settings and adding my wife's contact as "my wife" in the nickname field. Siri still messes up sometimes but it's way better now. Also setting up Siri to learn your voice by doing those practice phrases helped a ton.

Is that nickname trick still working for you? I used to think it was a waste of time but after trying it last week it actually fixed most of my Siri problems.
