How all these years I never knew Wi-Fi extenders need a specific app setup
Spent 6 months blaming my router for spotty connection in the kitchen, until a Best Buy kid asked if I configured the extender through their app. Just assumed you plug it in and it works like magic. Has anyone else been stuck with a tech thing that was user error the whole time?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I did the exact same thing with my printer back in the day... just plugged it in and got mad when it wouldn't connect to my laptop. Turned out I had to put in a stupid network password through the printer's little screen. Spent a whole weekend yelling at it for no reason. It's like these companies just assume we know the secret handshake for every gadget now. Makes you feel kinda dumb when you finally figure it out, but honestly it's not our fault they hide the instructions in tiny print in the box.

Ah man, @willow732 you are totally speaking my language here. I once bought a "smart" coffee maker and spent two hours trying to get it to work, only to find out I had to download a separate app and create an account just to brew a cup. Like, why does my coffee need a password? It's ridiculous how they make you jump through hoops for basic stuff. I swear, half the time I set up a new gadget, I'm just pressing buttons randomly until something beeps. And yeah, it makes you feel like a moron when you finally find the solution in some obscure menu, but really, how are we supposed to know these things?

Had a buddy buy a "smart" thermostat once and he spent three days trying to get it to learn his schedule. Turns out he had to hold down a tiny reset button with a paperclip for ten seconds lol. He was about to return it when his kid accidentally figured it out by smashing the buttons.
