The day a client told me my reps were too fast changed everything about how I train people
Some guy I was spotting at the gym said I was rushing through the eccentric like a maniac, and after watching my own form on video I realized he was totally right. Has anyone else had a random stranger or client call out a blind spot that actually made you better at what you do?

23 years in and it still stings when a random gym goer called out my grip width on deadlifts. What was the hardest part for you about slowing down the eccentric once you actually started paying attention to it? I bet that first week of consciously controlling the descent felt like you were moving in slow motion.

That first week of slow eccentrics felt ridiculous, like I was doing deadlifts in a swimming pool. Honestly the hardest part was fighting the urge to just let gravity take over once I passed my knees. Took me about two weeks before it stopped feeling weird and started actually helping my lockout.
