That one client who told me my meta descriptions were 'boring' actually fixed my whole approach
They said 'nobody clicks on a library card catalog' and now I write them like I'm selling concert tickets instead, has anyone else gotten oddly specific feedback that clicked way later than it should have?

I get that the "library card catalog" line is pretty funny, but I wonder if we're overthinking this. I've had clients ask me to spice things up before and sometimes it's just personal taste. The real question is whether the changes actually moved the needle on your click rates or if it just made you feel better about your copy. I've seen plenty of flashy descriptions that don't convert because they're all hype with no substance. Sometimes boring gets the clicks from the people who actually need what you're selling.

I actually had a similar moment about 6 months ago with a client who told me my email subject lines were "too polite." She said I was writing like I was asking permission to open their inbox. I switched to writing like I was passing a note in class, urgent and a little messy. It felt wrong at first but my open rates jumped almost 15 percent in the first week. It's funny how the bluntest feedback can be the most useful even if it stings at the time. Did you track your numbers after the switch?
