My landlord charged me $150 to replace a lightbulb then got mad when I bought my own step stool

He showed up with a 20 foot ladder, took 3 hours to swap a standard A19 bulb in my kitchen ceiling fixture, and handed me a $150 bill plus a lecture about how I should have called him first.

Ugh, that's bonkers. I used to think landlords were just doing their jobs, like it was a fair trade for the hassle. But $150 for a lightbulb? That kind of experience really changes your perspective on who's actually trying to help you and who's just trying to make a quick buck off you. I guess I learned the hard way that "just call the landlord" isn't always the best advice.

$150 for a bulb swap is insane. He marked up the labor like it was a full electrical job. Should have just let him keep the bulb since you basically bought it for that price anyway.

Did he at least let you keep the lightbulb?
