Tried to fix a squeaky stair tread with gorilla glue and it turned into a slip n slide

Last Tuesday I thought I'd be clever and fix that third step that's been squeaking for months. Squirted some gorilla glue under the tread and stood on it to let it set. Well the glue expanded and pushed out the side, and when I stepped back I did a full split on the slick mess. It took me 45 minutes with a putty knife and mineral spirits to get that stuff off the hardwood floor. Has anyone else had a glue project turn into a hazard like that?

Full split on the slick mess" is basically how I'd describe every DIY project I've ever attempted. Did the same thing last year with super glue in a broken mug, ended up with my thumb stuck to the kitchen counter for twenty minutes while I tried to explain to my wife why I couldn't help with dinner. Gorilla glue really does live up to its name, it just doesn't care about your floors or your dignity.

@sean_murray you are not alone. Last summer I tried to fix a loose tile in the bathroom with construction adhesive. Managed to glue my phone to the tile, the tile to the floor, and my hand to the bucket handle all at once. My wife came in and just stood there shaking her head while I tried to figure out how to call for help with my face. Had to use nail polish remover to get my phone back and I still have a permanent sticky spot on that tile. Gorilla glue does not mess around, it will bond anything to anything else including you to your own bad decisions.
