Tried using mesh tape on a inside corner and ended up cursing for 20 minutes

I'm usually a paper tape guy but figured I'd give mesh a shot on a tricky corner in a basement remodel down in Springfield. The mud just bubbled up underneath no matter how careful I was, and I had to peel the whole thing off and redo it with paper. Anyone else have better luck with mesh on inside corners, or is it just me?

Right, because nothing says "fun Saturday" like peeling off a strip of mesh that decided to bubble up like a pancake on a hot griddle. I swear mesh tape has it out for anyone trying to do inside corners, it just loves to make you question your entire life choices. Paper tape forever, mesh tape is for patching drywall holes and that's about it.

Tossed the mesh tape in the trash after the same thing happened to me on a basement remodel. I grabbed a roll of paper tape and a corner trowel instead. @danielmartinez is right, mesh is only good for patches, not corners. The trick for me was to bed the paper tape in a thin layer of mud first, then press it tight with the corner tool. Let that dry completely before you do the second coat on each side. Mesh just lets too much air under it and the mud dries uneven, causing bubbles every time. Paper gives you a clean crisp line and no headaches.
