Taped my first ceiling with 45 minute mud instead of 90

I was short on time for a small bathroom ceiling and grabbed the 45 minute stuff on a whim. The pan set up WAY faster than I expected and I almost ruined a batch because I mixed too much at once. Has anyone else switched to fast-set for ceilings or am I just asking for trouble?

Buddy of mine tried the same thing on a closet ceiling. Mixed up a full bucket like he always does with 90 minute and by the time he got the first few feet taped, the rest was already kicking off in the pan. Ended up scraping half of it off and starting over with fresh stuff. He said it was like racing against a timer that got set way too short lol.

Thinking he could race the clock on 90 minute mud is CRAZY. I bet his arm was getting tired before he even finished the first strip, that stuff sets up like concrete when it wants to.
